Function: | Enables or disables Receive Packet Steering (RPS) on all Network-Interfaces. |
Goto: RTL-Research - Dependencies - Model-Matrix - Symbols - SMW-Browser
Details
rps.sh enables or disables Receive Packet Steering (RPS) on all Network-Interfaces.
RPS is a scaling technology used in the Linux Network Stack.
See also the network scaling docs at kernel.org.
Besides this rps.sh changes the WLAN IRQ affinity, which is unused in RTL86 FRITZ!OS.
See also the SMP IRQ affinity docs at kernel.org.
rps.sh is called by startup with the option on
before boa is launched.
usage: rps.sh on | off
fw 7.30 simplified:
case "$1" in on) RPS_cpus=4 RPS_flow_cnt=4096 WLAN_irq_affn1=2 WLAN_irq_affn2=8 ;; off) RPS_cpus=0 RPS_flow_cnt=0 WLAN_irq_affn1=F WLAN_irq_affn2=F ;; esac for f in /sys/class/net/*; do SET=1 case "$f" in /sys/class/net/eth*) ;; /sys/class/net/wlan*) ;; /sys/class/net/nas*) ;; /sys/class/net/ptm*) ;; /sys/class/net/br*) ;; SET=0 ;; esac if [ "$SET" -eq 1 ]; then echo $RPS_cpus > $f/queues/rx-0/rps_cpus echo $RPS_flow_cnt > $f/queues/rx-0/rps_flow_cnt fi done echo $WLAN_irq_affn1 > /proc/irq/31/smp_affinity echo $WLAN_irq_affn2 > /proc/irq/32/smp_affinity
RTL-Research
Note that research on the RTL86 chipset and its Linux and drivers is very difficult and the results are highly unfinished.
