RF-Connector[edit]

Details[edit]

SMA connectors are external RF connectors which are typically fixed at the casing using a hexagonal nut.
AVM uses them to connect indoor or outdoor antennas to LTE / 5G models which support external antennas.
Internally these are either IPEX connected SMA-Pigtails (with nut) or onboard embedded connectors (without nut).
Models which omit the nut (6842) are practically only usable for indoor antennas, since outdoor RF cable is
often heavy and stiff and can put dangerous tension on the PCB. SMA-Pigtails are the way better solution
since they mechanically disconnect the PCB from the casing and cable.
