PCB mounted not part of the main PCB. vertical daughter PCBs soldered onto the main PCB:
The advantage of PCB-Mounted antennas is smaller space requirements on the PCB, compared to PCB-Trace antennas.
Besides this they could easily be improved and replaced, without the need to redesign the main PCB.
PCB-Mounted WLAN 2.4GHz antennas are alsways connected directly to the WLAN SoC, no IPEX, Murata or Hirose socket.
