Details

Intellon developed Powerline chips and the HPAV protocol[2] until they were acquired by Atheros 2009-12-17.

The chips were called the PowerPacket home networking technology and the history starts in 2000 with 11 Mbit/s:

HomePlug 1.0 - 14 Mbit/s - Home

HomePlug 1.0 with Turbo - 85 Mbit/s - Home

HomePlug AV - 200 Mbit/s - Home

  • INT6000 / AD9865 - 1st gen - 2005 - Home - PDF - PDF
  • INT6300 (incl AFE) - 2nd gen - 2007 - Home - PDF - PDF
  • INT6400 / INT1400 - 3rd gen - 2009 - Home - PDF - PDF - PDF - 300MHz ARM926EJ-S
  • INT6405 / INT1404 - 4th gen - 2010 - HTML

HomePlug AV+ / IEEE P1901 - 500 Mbit/s

  • INT7400 / INT1500 - 1st gen - 2010 - PDF - ARM1156

See the AMP article for the later Powerline history.

The first Powerline chip by Atheros was the AMP AR7400 which they announced to be pin compatible to the INT7400.
Maybe this was just marketing. Atheros renamed all INT chips to AR, Qualcomm renamed them to QCA later.
The second PDF for the INT6400 above announces the Atheros INT6400, the 3rd one announces the Qualcomm AR6400,
and shows a QCA6400 chip. Conclusion: If you search for infos about Intellon chips try all 3 namings.

chipset.h from the open-plc-utils shows there are no different chipset codes for renamed parts.
