Details
In computing an Epoch is the base point in time when an imteger Timestamp counter was zero.
It is a definition used to keep an imteger Timestamp compact.
For the Unix Epoch which is also used for Linux this is defined:
1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC
For the TOD Epoch and the NTP Epoch this is defined:
1900-01-01 00:00:00 UTC
