An Intercom is a generic term for a standalone communication system which is not connected to the PSTN.
There are many forms of Intercoms, the variants of interest for this Wiki are:
- Door-Intercom - asking who was ringing and opening the door
- Baby-Monitor - listening to the sound of a baby and/or getting notified about its volume
