Details
An LED is a semiconductor which emits light. It is a ver energy efficient light source and used for many purposes today.
It took a long time but today LEDs are available in all colors.
Technically a LED is a diode, with higher but pretty constant forward voltage. That's why it is also used for non optical
purposes, ie. as a cheap constant voltage source or together with a transistor in constant current sources.
Typically an LED is powered with a resistor in front of it, which defines the maximum current it receives.
FRITZ!OS
Most models of the FRITZ!Box-Family use 5 LEDs to display their status. Exceptions are "backports" of Telekom-Derivatives
like the 7570, which have up to 12 LEDs. The worst case exception is the 7150, which just has one LED (for a DSL router !!!).
Besides the number of LEDs nearly each model has its own LED layout. To cope with this chaos AVM decided to abstract.
Services report their state and the LED drivers decide how and where these are displaed. This introduced a further chaos.
It is not exaggerated to say that AVM coded so many LED driver solutions that you could write a book about it.
"20 years of mapping 200 functions to 5 LEDs using 1 new solution per year" would be an exaggerated title, but it's close.
Since this is beyond the scope of my service I'll try to collect solutions here step by step. :-)
