Description: | Non-persistent virtual disk drive in RAM |
Goto: FRITZ!OS - SMW-Browser
Details
A RAM-Disk or RAM-Drive
is a non-persistent virtual disk drive in RAM.
It uses a fixed-size portion of RAM to emulate a block device, which can use an arbitary filesystem.
FRITZ!OS
Some NOR-Flash models of the FRITZ!Box-Family use a RAM-Disk as the NAS-root, see CONFIG_RAMDISK.
It is the non-persistent predecessor of later persistent Internal-Storage in NAND-Flash.
In FRITZ!OS the RAM-Disk uses the loop.ko driven loop0 device and the ext2 filesystem.
Its size always is 280576 bytes = 274 kB = 0.27 MB. It is listed as a negative value in the NAS-Space property.
The Webinterface manages the RAM-Disk in the usbdevices ui-module which is maintained by libctlusb.so.
