|Description:||Octet, 8-bit value|
A Byte is an Octet, an ordered collection of 8 bits.
In very early days of computers the term Byte represented the amount of bits required to transfer a Character.
This was only differing charset bits and to count the frame including body, and not the payload.
Today this is only of interest for historical research, and otherwise useless confusion.
In very early days of computers the term Byte was used for storage width other than 8-bit.
Today IEC 60027-2 (1999) clearly defines a Byte to be an Octet of bits.
