Details
A Character is the smallest printable or non printable item of a written text or script.
Unicode is an effort to collect all Characters of all Languages.
The textual digital representation of a Character is subject to the character encoding according to a Charset.
The graphical digital representation of a Character is subject to a Font.
Confusion
Do not confuse a Character with a Byte. There are Charsets with arbitary width per Character.
Also do not confuse a Character with the data type char in many programming languages.
