Unicode (Universal Coded Character Set, UCS) is an effort to include all Characters from all past and present human
Languages into a single character map.
Unicode is just the collection of all Characters, there are different Charsets to encode it, most important ones:
- UTF-8 - 8-bit 1-4 Byte variable-width encoding
- UTF-16 - 16-bit 2/4 Byte variable-width encoding
- UTF-32 - 32-bit 4 Byte fixed-width encoding - less common
- GB18030 - Chinese national standard
