Details
A NAS (Network Attached Storage
) is a fileserver connected to the LAN.
It usually is a standalone device which provides access by various Network-Protocols.
FRITZ!OS
Many models of the FRITZ!Box-Family provide NAS funtionality, see CONFIG_NAS.
In FRITZ!OS the NAS-root is located at /var/media/ftp
. This path is either:
- non-persistent in RAM as a subfolder of the
/var
mount which uses tmpfs or ramfs - non-persistent in a mounted RAM-Disk
- persistent in mounted Internal-Storage
It may contain special subfolders which are mountpoints for:
- USB-Storage - 1 folder each mountable partition
- Online-Storage
If the Language is set to german the NAS-root is prefilled with these demo files:
Bilder/FRITZ-Picture.jpg
- 29.5 kBDokumente/FRITZ-NAS.txt
- 6.5 kBDokumente/Produkthandbuch.html
- 634 BMusik/FRITZ-Song.mp3
- 102-680 kBVideos/FRITZ! Clips.html
- todo BVideos/FRITZ-Video.mp4
- 93.7k-296 kB
The NAS-root and its subfolders could be accessed by:
- FTP, which is handled by ftpd and uses the FTP or FTPS protocols
- Samba, which is handled by smbd or nqcs and uses the SMB protocol
- DLNA, which is handled by mediasrv and uses the UPnP-AV protocol
- fritz.nas and MyFRITZ!, which are handled by ctlmgr and luacgi and use the HTTP or HTTPS protocols
All these services are accessible from the LAN, if enabled.
FTP, FTPS and HTTPS are optionally accessible from the internet via DynDNS or MyFRITZ!.
