A Speech-Service converts text to synthetic speech.
This is also called Speech-Synthesis or TTS / Text-To-Speech.
FRITZ!OS
In FRITZ!OS 7.39+ AVM implemented a new online Text-To-Speech synthesis service, called Speech-Service.
It is an OAuth protected API service running on AVM servers, contacted by the avmspeechd dispatcher daemon.
avmspeechd is triggered by its client api libavmspeech_client.so, which is used by dect_manager and the shell tool tts_conv.
tts_conv is used by the telefon plugin libtam.so to improve the speech quality of the Timestamp report of TAM recordings.
dect_manager introduces the new Voice-Ringtones, a mix of a Ringtone and synthetic speech.
This permits to hear who is calling, either the name from the Phonebook or the area the number comes from.
Besides this Text-To-Speech can also be used to "read" Email or SMS.
