Description: | Secure file transfer, succesor of FTP |
Goto: FRITZ!OS - SMW-Browser
Details
FTPS is the successor of the old FTP protocol implementing secure file transfer over SSL / TLS.
Do not confuse it with SFTP, which does a similar job over SSH.
Explicit FTPS uses Port-20-tcp for the data connection and Port-21-tcp for the control connection, like FTP.
It requires special treatment in firewalls like the Fritzbox SPI firewall due to its 2 ports.
Implicit FTPS is deprecated and used other ports.
FRITZ!OS
In recent FRITZ!OS explicit FTPS is one of the protocols to access the NAS, if enabled, served by the ftpd (lincmd) daemon.
In recent firmware ftpd (lincmd) is launched as an inetd service defined in inetd.conf using the wrapper script inetdftp.
