Details
MyFRITZ! is a DynDNS Service by AVM, which was introduced when dyndns.org
discontinued their free DynDNS service.
DynDNS provides a method to lookup the public IP(s) of a router through the DNS system.
While dyndns.org
provided easy to remember <nickname>.dyndns.org
hostnames AVM decided to use unrememberable<cryptic_key>.myfritz.net
hostnames, likely for security-by-obscurity considerations.
To find out this cryptic hostname one has to login to the Webinterface,or to myfritz.net using the MyFRITZ! credentials.
First time registration to MyFRITZ! requires an Email address and a user definable password.
AVM then sends an activation link to validate the Email address and enable the service.
FRITZ!OS
FRITZ!OS introduced MyFRITZ! in fw 5.09, see CONFIG_MYFRITZ.
The Webinterface manages MyFRITZ! in the jasonii ui-module which is maintained by libcmapi.so.
Configuration is stored in the jasonii
section of ar7.cfg which is maintained by libar7cfg.so.
