Details

ecmh (Easy Cast du Multi Hub) is a daemon that relays or aggregates IPv6 multicast packets.

See also the project homepage and the github repository.

ecmh is not used in FRITZ!OS.

fw 7.30 info from the strings:

Easy Cast du Multi Hub (ecmh) 2005.02.09 by Jeroen Massar <jeroen@unfix.org>

-f, --foreground don't daemonize
-u, --user username drop (setuid+setgid) to user after startup
-i, --upstream interface upstream interface
-o, --downstream interface downstream interface
-v, --verbose Verbose Operation
-V, --version Report version and exit
-1, --mld1only Act as a MLDv1 only host
-2, --mld2only Act as a MLDv2 only host (*)
-p, --promisc Make interfaces promisc
-P, --nopromisc Don't make interfaces promisc (default)

Report bugs to Jeroen Massar <jeroen@unfix.org>.
Also see the website at http://unfix.org/projects/ecmh/

* = RFC incompliant as it ignores MLDv1 reports completely
Recommended is running without the 'only' options as that is
the mode allows fallback from MLDv2 to MLDv1 as per the RFC

RTL-Research

Note that research on the RTL86 chipset and its Linux and drivers is very difficult and the results are highly unfinished.

Source

The names of source files compiled into an executable often help to understand function blocks (and show gaps in the docs).
fw 7.30 source files:

$ strings /bin/ecmh | grep -e '\.c$' -e '\.cpp$'
