Details
annexctl is an Annex changer for FIT-Image models.
5590 fw 7.27 help collected from the strings (lacking any fit model):
usage: annexctl [command] [arg] commands: get_dsl get_fiber set_fiber <annex-string> annex-strings: ANNEX_DSL_NONE ANNEX_DSL_A ANNEX_DSL_B ANNEX_FIBER_NONE ANNEX_FIBER_AON ANNEX_FIBER_PON
All actions are performed in libannexctl.so, annexctl is just the commandline frontend.
As you can see only the Fiber Annex can be changed, DSL Annex is read only.
This is because Fiber FIT-Image models use different device tree files on boot for AON and PON, set by the annex variable.
Examples
annexctl is not directly called in FRITZ!OS, but the daemons bbpd and omcid (fiber only) also use libannexctl.so.
