Details

major_nr is a /etc/boot.d helper script to get the major number of a device.

It can not be called directly but is used as an include to define one function. Simplified from 7520 fw 7.57:

major_nr()
{

device=$1

grep -we $device /proc/devices | read major device

echo $major

}

This function expects a device name as argument and returns its major number. Usage example from E03-flash_update:

. /etc/boot.d/major_nr

mknod -m 666 /dev/led c "$(major_nr led)" 0

The first line includes the function, the second line calls it.
