Details
endptd (endpoint daemon?) is a multi purpose Inter-CPU daemon for the RTL86 Linux.
It is started in the rc boot script and in startup, see the Examples.
endptd opens the named pipe /tmp/serv_fifo
for communication with mpoactl and mpoad.
fw 7.30 info from the strings (manually gathered):
endptd [opt] -h - help -v - verbose -V - version -i <iface> - interface -c <parm> - chip ID -t <parm> - input Ethernet type (>= 0x0600, default 0x8899) -g - unknown -T <parm> - unknown
Examples
From the fw 7.30 rc boot script:
endptd -i br0 &
From fw 7.30 startup:
endptd -i br0
RTL-Research
Note that research on the RTL86 chipset and its Linux and drivers is very difficult and the results are highly unfinished.
Source
The names of source files compiled into an executable often help to understand function blocks (and show gaps in the docs).
fw 7.30 source files:
$ strings /bin/endptd | grep -e '\.c$' -e '\.cpp$' linkmgr.c apimgr.c event.c dbgmgr.c l2xfmgr.c
Besides this there are multiple occurences of /sdk/user/commserv2/include/pktbuf.h
.
