Details

kskbtrace is a kernel socket buffer capture / trace program..

kskbtrace.ko is a new extension of kdsldmod.ko, the routing core of FRITZ!OS.
Its purpose is sniffing the kernel socket buffers (SKBs), the core of Linux networking[1].
It is maintained by libkskbtracepoint.so which can set tracepoints, that is how the sniffers are called.

kskbtrace is the frontend to create these tracepoints and to pipe the capture to tcpdump.
Alternatively ethertrace could be used, a capture dumper in libewnwlinux.so which is also used by capture_notimeout.

fw 7.39 help:

root@fritz:/var/mod/root# kskbtrace -?

usage: kskbtrace [options] [<tracepoint name> [pcap filter]] -- <tcpdump options>]

options:
  -? - print this help
-l - show all tracepoints. (NOTSET)
-e - use ethertrace even if tcpdump will work. (NOTSET)
-k - keep filter (do not manipulate filter). (NOTSET)
-d - dump socket filter. (NOTSET)
-D STRING - switch debug logs on. (FUNC)

kskbtrace -l
kskbtrace vcc.0
kskbtrace vcc.0 udp port 53 -- -n

Source

The names of source files compiled into an executable often help to understand function blocks (and show gaps in the docs).
fw 7.39 source files:

$ strings /sbin/kskbtrace | grep -e '\.c$' -e '\.cpp$'
