Description: | 600/1200MHz Dual Core ATOM 612/652/672 + 450MHz ARMv7 DOCSIS 3.0 SoC |
Chip-Details
The Puma6 is the successor of the Puma5, the first DOCSIS SoC by Intel after they bought the Cable Modem Unit of Texas Instruments.
Besides a slightly faster ARM6 core Intel added a Dual Core ATOM, so it runs 2 Linux instances.
This was necessary since the TI DOCSIS stack was written for the ARM6.
The Puma6 is the base of the FRITZ!Box 64xx / 6590 Cable
routers. The successor SoC is the Puma7.
There are 3 versions of the Puma6 used by AVM. They mainly differ by their Atom cores and DOCSIS streams:
- A 16x4 stream 600MHz Atom 612 version used in the 6430 and 6460.
- A 24x8 stream 1200MHz Atom 652 version used in the 6490.
- A 32x8 stream 1200MHz Atom 672 version used in the 6590.
