Details

msgsend sends a command to a Message-Endpoint, by default asynchronous without waiting, unless option -a is passed.
Message-Endpoints are a special kind of Linux-Sockets which are named me_<endpoint>.ctl. The <endpoint> is often
the name of a daemon, but unlike the usage text below states not always. Daemons can serve multiple endpoints,
For example: The valid endpoint usbinfod is no own daemon, me_usbinfod.ctl is served by ctlmgr.
msgsend does not output a response from the contacted endpoint, it just sends a silent trigger.

fw 7.29 help:

root@fritz2:/var/mod/root# msgsend -?

usage: msgsend msgsend [options] daemon command

options:
  -?                 - print this help
  -r - only receive messages. (NOTSET)
  -n INTEGER         - send message n times. (1)
  -a - wait till message processed by receiver. (NOTSET)
  -t INTEGER         - timeout in seconds for -a. (15)
  -e STRING - name of the endpoint. (NULL)
  -D STRING - switch debug logs on. (FUNC)

disconnect voip interface: msgsend dsld disconnect 1
only receive messages: msgsend -r -e msgrecv

Endpoints

Unlike the comfort of aicmd there is no command to list the msgsend endpoints and their respective commands.
They must be collected. This will be a list of daemons, each daemon article explains the endpoints and commands:

Examples

To just wait until an endpoint or daemon received a message an empty command can be passed, ie:

msgsend -a ctlmgr "" 2> /dev/null

The reload function of supervisor services is implemented like this:

msgsend -a ddnsd reload

Source

The names of source files compiled into an executable often help to understand function blocks (and show gaps in the docs).
fw 7.39 source files:

$ strings /bin/msgsend | grep -e '\.c$' -e '\.cpp$'

<empty>
