Details

rextd is the WLAN repeater management daemon. rext stands for range extender.
It is a fusion of parts of multid and dsld, specialized for repeater usage.

If you have a look at the Endpoints, Source and Symbols you see that it is pretty close to multid for the LAN management.

On routers dsld manages the kernel module kdsldmod.ko for the routing part.
On repeaters it is rextd managing the kernel module krextdmod.ko, using libkrextd.so.
