AVM-Command

Goto:   Dependencies   -   Model-Matrix   -   Symbols   -   SMW-Browser

Details

inetdctl enables or disables inetd services.
It is called by ftpd_control, the hotplug script storage, and libcmapi.so for ctlmgr, in older firmware also by samba_control.

Fw 7.39 help (altered):

Usage:

  inetctl enable|disable ftpd|smbd|check_mk

inetdctl creates/modifies inetd.conf molular line by line, depending on settings and passed arguments.

If local FTP is enabled this line is added, depending on CONFIG_IPV6 with tcp or tcp6:

21 stream tcp|tcp6 nowait.50 root /bin/sh sh /bin/inetdftp

If FTP from Internet is enabled additionally this line is added with the configured public <port>:

<port> stream tcp|tcp6 nowait.50 root /bin/sh sh /bin/inetdftp

In older firmware with SMB v1 only support these lines are added, if enabled:

139 stream tcp|tcp6 nowait root /sbin/smbd smbd
445 stream tcp|tcp6 nowait root /sbin/smbd smbd

AVM also experimented with inetd driven nmbd, but commented it out - this must be very old since IPv4 only:

# 137 dgram udp wait.1 root /sbin/nmbd nmbd
# 138 dgram udp wait.1 root /sbin/nmbd nmbd

Instead of this it is normally started nmbd and stopped killall nmbd.
On older Puma6 firmware which ran on ARM it's started rpc nmbd and stopped rpc killall nmbd.

In recent firmware with SMB v1 / v2 / v3 support inetd and this script are not used any more for SMB.

Finally there's an optional check_mk service which adds this line:

6556 stream tcp|tcp6 nowait root /bin/sh sh /usr/bin/check_mk_agent.sh

Config

None of the inetdctl operations alter any configuration, it just modifies inetd.conf according to the passed arguments.

The only configuration that is read is the FTP from Internet option which mainly comes from usb.cfg:

usbhost {
        ...
        ftp_internet_enabled = no;
        ...
        ftp_internet_port = 0;
        ...
}

There's also an on demand feature which is read from the ctlusb ui-module:

ctlusb:status/storage-ftp-internet-on-demand-only
